2 Chronicles 20:1–22
What do you do when the battle in front of you is greater than the strength within you?
In the opening message of our Spiritual Warfare series, we turn to 2 Chronicles 20, where King Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah face an overwhelming enemy. Jehoshaphat is afraid, but instead of allowing fear to control his response, he turns his attention toward God.
Through this powerful account, we discover that spiritual victory does not begin with greater self-confidence or human strength. It begins with prayerful dependence upon the Lord. God calls us to seek Him before reacting to the battle, stand faithfully where He has placed us, and worship while trusting Him with the outcome.
When you do not have the strength and do not know what to do, you can still declare with Jehoshaphat, “Our eyes are upon You” (2 Chronicles 20:12 NKJV).
The main point here is: When the battle is bigger than us, God calls us away from self-reliance and into prayerful dependence upon Him.
